So I got myself a new drive, Lacie Rugged 320. It’s a sweet, little and rugged hard drive.

My first impression is that it’s amazingly light. My Seagate weights a ton comparing to this thing!

My main usage of this drive is on-road backup so the weight and portability were most important factors. In addition, this LaCie can work in much more bouncy environments than most other drives, and it’s said to be quite kick-resistant. It’s not only about the outside bumpers but also the special construction inside.

I got the idea for this hard drive from Terry White, thanks a lot Terry! It’s a damn good value for money. You can read more about the drive on his blog.

We will see how this thing really works. So far I’m happy, the first backup took around 20% less time that on the Seagate, which is twice as big, has external power (LaCie is USB powered) and faster spin. So far so good:)

Last time I have mentioned 10 cool free apps for iPhone. Today I would like to show you:

  • How mobile, tiny cameras change a way you think,
  • How I use photo-editing apps to create interesting shots,
  • How to use an iPhone (or any smartphone) as a learning tool.

There are always people within any group who strain for technical perfection, some of them try so hard they completely forget what they were up to in the first place.

iPhone… the phone, the camera, the organizer, the game console, the web browser and more. It’s incredible how much something so small can store. It’s especially incredible if you were using simplest mobile for last few years and suddenly you realize how easier your life is by using a smart phone.

If you wish, it could work just like an ordinary phone, however, spending a bit time to incorporate iPhone into your everyday duties and activities can make it a real time saver.

Today, I would like to show you a few, completely free apps that I use almost everyday.

Update: Google has since developed a few new, usefull tools. There are still some old flaws around, however, the reader is quite usable now.

Today’s web offers so many sources for creative individuals that it’s completely overwhelming. Everyone needs a way to concentrate on the most useful resources. It’s easy to manage couple sites and blogs and check them regularly.

The problem occurs when you have more sites to check. Try being up to date with 20 blogs. You will end up checking them everyday, most often to see that they haven’t been updated yet. You would waste a lot of your time.

RSS – Really Simple Syndication

If you want to follow many websites but still do it efficiently, RSS is for you.

Basically it’s a way of organizing websites and blogs you are following. Ever seen “subscribe” button on a website? When you click it, you will be taken to a simple black on white news feed where you can subscribe using your chosen reader.

Nikon’s D3X is coming, people! Get ready for big announcements soon. Here are two leaks from Nikon’s official site. They uploaded photos a bit too early (yeah, right…). Now they are replaced with logos only but some crazy guys were fast enough to pick up those images:

It’s past 3 am here but this big news are worth staying up late! RED is a company that will shake both still and motion picture’s business. They have introduced two new, fully modular systems: Scarlet and Epic which are completely compatible.

They call it DSMC which means digital stills and motion camera.

First of all these systems have more parts than you can ever need. Camera’s “brainz” vary from 4,9 to 261 MP! Biggest Epic’s sensor has 186 x 56 mm creating 25 fps of 28000 x 9334 pixels size!
