Weekend in the Forest
My most faithful readers could have probably already seen the above photo as it appeared as a background for the blog.
It was taken during last weekends trip to the forest with my friends. The technique is easy, you need to find some straight lines and move your lens along during the exposure. Repeat until you achieve the result you wanted. Some of those pics look good in color, some look better in black and white (especially those with high contrasts and few details).
I’ve been quite busy lately, and the weather doesn’t help. It’s cold and wet. Besides a few short breaks, it has been like that since October…
During the trip it was cloudy but fortunately sometimes the sun showed up:
Usual, easy snap anyone can get. Yea, I belittle myself a bit here, but also encourage you to try it yourself. Basically you need just two things to make such pic: camera and a finger to push the button;)
Below, one more impression. This time a bit darker, without camera movement:
The black and white conversion is very important in such pictures. They don’t have strong compositional base, the texture is the main focus. Monochrome usually removes the distraction that colors can give and enhances the texture. Here, the contrast was a bit too strong so I decided to darken it a bit. Corners were naturally darkened by the wide-open lens.
My friends on facebook already seen the below pic. It’s our camp, nothing special but you can see how we spent that cold night:
Take care my friends!

I really do feel like I am in a forest now, like really. I like the feel but at times it can be overwhelming.
Why would it be overwhelming?
