Week 21 – The Bike

I’m not much into sports, but I do like going out training, looking for my limits (I know them a bit too well now..) and trying new things. Recently I decided to try riding a bike. One would say nothing new, but it’s an important decision.

This winter was really long and it certainly shows through my lack of dexterity. Bike is a good start, then I hope to begin running again.

I think this summer’s gonna be really nice.

This time I drew my friends to help me out with photos. Special thanks to Ptaku and Marta for great time and help during the session. We started with a concept I have been thinking of for a while now, but (as always) the new ideas came up during the shoot. Below the original concept:

The dynamism was nice, but as the sun was very strong it was hard to get long shutter speeds without f-low-as-hell… Small strobes were way not enough for such situation. We decided to wait for sunset, and take some other shots.

A bike on a back is an old, but always fun concept. Actually I like the idea so much we never came back to shoot the riding scene.

Ptaku helped as an assistant while I was setting the lighting and composition.

Tech

The sun was bright and the shadow was a must. 200mm helped with smoothing the background. Face was lighted with a 60cm soft-box camera right.

200mm, 1/400s, f5,6, ISO 200

The rim light adds a bit of character and (IMO) seems quite natural. Set in cross-lighting style.

    1. dla mnie mocno technicznie, mało plastycznie

    2. jakoś ciemno, mimo światła

    3. detale: dzwonek, odblaski, jeansy, osłona na łańcuch, brak spd. to zabija autentyczność bo wycinaki taplający się w błocie zwykle tego nie mają (samo odpada po pierwszej akcji, no i to dodatkowe gramy do targania na plecach)

    Hmm, tak. Bardziej podoba mi się zdjęcie w ruchu. Wiem, że niedoskonałe, ale ma to coś. Autentyzmu więcej? Może.

    A rower… mam nadzieję, że Ci się spodoba. Sam śmigam ostatnio rowerem na UG i fajnie jest. Tylko samochody wkurzają, bo nie patrzą w ogóle.

    @Ciryatan ja tak miejsko to nie jeżdżę, raczej w teren lubię albo chociaż za miasto.

    Mnie też się podoba to w ruchu, pewnie je jeszcze powtórzę, przemyślę co i jak, by było tak jak w mojej głowie.

    Będę jakoś koniec czerwca/początek lipca w gda to pogadamy. Pozdrawiam
