Night Portraits
The new website is up and running. I hope everyone likes it! If you got any suggestions, feel free to write them in a comment.
The above photo of Magda was taken during the night session with my friends. The session was organized specially for my new site and we spent some really cool time putting that together.
We gathered in front of the town hall in Koszalin. The idea was to create interesting blurred backgrounds of city lights. You can see them in the next shot:
In this shot of Michal, I used small flash camera left through an white umbrella and another flash bounced of the white card placed on the ground. I had to use quite long exposure to grab that lights in the background but Michal is sharp as he is lightened only by flashes.
Marta was lightened a bit differently. I put a long grid and a blue filter on one flash and placed it on the left, behind her. The umbrella was placed in front of her, slightly above. I wanted to reproduce here the traditional color-movie look with the blue highlight from behind and warm key light. It turned out to look great as a black and white. You will see color version in the end of the post.
Magda was lightened similarly but this time, umbrella was camera right to provide just a bit of fill while key light was gridded flash from behind left.
Below are two more portrait of Magda from that evening:
Next session is on the beach, so stay tuned!
