Awesomeness

Apr 19 2009

Hello everyone. I have some really awesome links today. Today I was completely blown away when I looked at all those amazing videos and pictures!

My usual inspiration resources did really good job today. Lets start with incredible video by David Coiffier. It was shot with SprintCam v3 which can go up to 1000 (yes, one thousand) frames per second. His capture, plus beautiful music by my favorite Gotan Project made it a must see:

Earlier this week Nikon has announced D5000 DX format camera with HD video. I won’t bore you with technical stuff. I don’t really care anymore. All I think about is art by itself and technical aspects of cameras are not what art is about. They’re just tools to make my imagination happen. Nikon is doing nice campaign about that camera. They didn’t get Chase Jarvis like they did with D90 but the audience for D5000 is different. D90 targets serious amateurs while d5k is entry level camera. Or that’s what camera makers want us believe. I don’t. Only real difference is built in motor in D90 which makes it possible to use non AF-S lenses such as beloved 50 f1.8. Below you have one of the campaign videos, it’s really meant for kids:

In the morning I got e-mail from Mexico Vacation Travels. Very interesting resource of information on, as in the name, Mexico and their tourist attractions. Nice writing style, loads of links and helpful tips.

Jake Garn has posted yesterday a short article on his blog about rule of thirds and it’s bigger brother: The Golden Ratio. Every photo enthusiast should read that. It won’t give you extra powers but it certainly is a good start for learning composition.

And here is another awesome video. This one was created by Adam Berg for Philips and is a part of a campaign for their new 21:9 ratio LCD. I don’t care much about this new screen but the still-shot video is completely exquisite! I admire such stuff:

As we are talking about tv then why not watching one more campaign video. This time it’s made for Samsung. It’s a beautiful animation but I’m not quite sure who made it:

[Edit: I'm sorry, this video is no longer available]

To round it up I have two more links. First one is an article by Frank Gehry about crazy spiked building which changes appearance when you look from different perspectives.

Second one leads to pics of metal “art-toy” made by James Ian Killinger who have won 2009 Niche Award (Mixed & Misc. Media) with it.

Thats all for today. I hope You enjoyed videos and links.

Cya
