Year in Pictures

New Year’s Eve came today and so it’s the right time to show some links. I haven’t posted Sunday Links this weeks couse wanted to wait for today. Many big sites have made polls about most spectacular pictures from 2008. I have to say it was busy year for photojournalists and sport shooters. Armed conflicts, continuous wars and terrorism. More and more refugees and emigrants. Constant political clashes. At the same time biggest sport events, Olympic Games, new world records, sport gets even more exciting

MSNBC has posted best News and Sports shots
. Some of them are darn moving, some are just sad and other insanely motivating. See them all, each one is worth it.

Similar ranking was posted by boston.com. Some of the shots overlap but you shouldn’t be disappointed.

And ofcourse New York Times did similar summary. I guess there are hundreds such galleries on the net but these three sticked in my mind.

End of the Year bring end of prophotolife. I had a lot of fun reading Jim Talkington’s posts. He was very serious about his work but at the same time left some space for jokes and loose style. Thanks Jim for all that you taught us, it was a pleasure. Fortunately for us Jim is not leaving net. He moves his time into personal project called the photo a day. I’m not particularly keen on such type photoblogs but since I know his work a bit, I’m sure he will show us at least few impressive shots.

For me this year was a long journey, from completely newbie look on photography up to reading everything I could find on the net. I’m reading about 50 professional sites now and trying to be up to date with all artistic news I can. I started developing my own artistic style, learned how to work with people, took some shots I’m proud of not any more;). Here you have them:
